Bio
Alastair Greig studied composition with Oliver Knussen before entering the Royal Academy of Music in London. Further study followed at the universities of Sussex and Birmingham where he worked with, amongst others, Michael Finnissy and Vic Hoyland. He has received commissions from a number of ensembles and performers including BCMG, Rolf Hind, ESO, the Lyric Quartet, and Virelai, for their ?Sad Steps? recording and performance project. His work has been awarded a number of prizes throughout Europe including the Serocki International Competition (Poland); Contilli Award, 1st Prize ( Sicily); Dutilleux Prize (France); Eurorchestries Composition Competition (France); Epic Prize, finalist (Italy), Taukay International Composition Competition (Italy) and 1st prize in the recent Francesc Civil Award (Spain). His work has featured at festivals throughout the United Kingdom and been performed and broadcast in the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, France and Poland etc.
