Alfred Brendel at the RFH 4 Months ago
A poignant evening. His daughter was there to see the great man play his last performance in the Capital on a stage that has seem him at the height of his powers. But his performance was so brilliantly good, I couldn't help wondering why he is giving up. Truly brilliant, as he played Mozart, Beethoven and of course Schubert. The encores - all three - were spellbinding, and he was given 4 full standing ovations by a packed house. A moving occasion.
