Biography:

Founded by Gregory Emfietzis and Myrto Loulaki on 2009, the Metapraxis Ensemble aims to combine contemporary/new music repertoire with music of other styles and periods in a common narrative of performance, while experimenting on the expansion of musical performance.

Each programme is carefully chosen in accordance with a unifying theme, reinforced by text, lighting, staging effects, video and multimedia. We aim as much as possible to present each programme as a single unit, performed without breaks between the pieces.

Our projects included music by distinguished contemporary composers such as Richard Barrett, Christopher Fox and Yannis Kyriakides, young composers such as William Cheshire, Ann Cleare, Gregory Emfietzis, Johny Herbert, George Holloway and Scott McLaughlin, and also earlier music by C.Monteverdi, C.W.Gluck, H.Purcell, J.Dowland, W.A.Mozart and F.Schubert.
