  • As an undergraduate I worked as a pianist for children’s eurythmy classes, and completed ten years experience as a private tutor organising seasonal concerts for students of a wide age range. I learnt recorder and violin at school, and continued to study jazz and classical organ throughout my teens and early 20s. I was an area winner for Yamaha Festival and played a classical programme for the regional finals at the Victoria Rooms in Bristol.

Biography:

I studied Music with Visual Practice at the University of Brighton under Scottish composer and novelist Billy Cowie. During this time I experimented with studio composition in conjunction with tape/slide – and work was selected for Performance Platform at the Sallis Benney Theatre. I was also a member of a performance and video group for the International Festival of Live Art in Brighton and a member of spnm since graduation in 1997, and now a Founder Member of Sound and Music (London). I continued to tutor music keyboard before formally training on PGCE under Dr Sarah Maidlow and Nigel Timms at Oxford Brookes (1999). I moved to London to work in music retail as a classical specialist and then for a period as a video librarian at MTV Europe. In 2001, I attended a primary retrainer course and have since gained a masters in visual art education from the University of London (2009). I have worked in the primary education sector for seven years over which time I have organised several expressive arts projects for students of all ages and abilities; liaised with various artists and performers; and was a founder committee member for cultural evenings.
