Maestro 3 Months ago
After mentioning Maestro - a reality tv show where celebrities try their hand at conducting - a month ago on the Dilettante blog, judgement day is now here.
Maestro starts tonight (12 August) on BBC2 at 9pm. I'll be sharing my thoughts tomorrow, and anyone who tunes in feel free to let me know what you think.

- I finally got around to watching the first episode of Maestro on the BBC's iplayer yesterday, and how fantastic it was! There were many surprises, the main one being Goldie (drum and bass pioneer) who seems to have really taken on the challenge - it was amazing to see him put all his energy into classical music despite the fact he can't read music. Despite my initial scepticism about whether it would "dumb down" what it means to be a conductor, I think the producers have done a great job at showing the physical and mental challenge of being a 'maestro'. If you didn't see the first episode, you can watch it online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/musictv/maestro/episodes/. If not, watch the next episode tonight on BBC2 at 9pm.
